The Congdon Mill, a 4-story building standing at 13
1/2 Van Houten Street, is part of the Great Falls/S.U.M
Historic District. The Congdon Mill was built c.1905 as
a silk mill and was used by various manufacturers
throughout the 20th century. In recent years, the
interior has been divided up and used for various
businesses including a window manufacturing company, a
self-storage facility and a neighborhood development
group. The present owner plans to rehabilitate the
building into residential units.

This proposed renovation has been granted approval
from the landmarks Preservation Commission and will
convert the building into an 89 apartment unit
condominium.
